Kathy is the Director of the Planning Center with the Association California School Administrators.
Kathy Ohm has coordinated strategic planning for ACSA since 1994. She has facilitated nearly 40 strategic plans for education organizations ranging from a district with as few as 500 students to a regional education organization serving 500,000 students. Her planning work includes as well single schools, communities, nonprofits, consortia.
In 2001, Kathy began to coach professionally, at the request of several top leaders with whom she had worked; she continues to coach a select group of clients who achieve ambitious outcomes. In the organization arena, some of her work has included facilitating successful culture and state change; developing for an education regional agency client “the best leadership development tool we’ve ever seen”; designing and leading numerous workshops on aspects of generative leadership, promise-based management, and building and restoring trust.
In 1992, Kathy wrote Block Scheduling, one of the first resources for high principals on alternative scheduling options. Over a 14 year period, she taught students at preschool, elementary, high school and college levels. In the non-education arena, early work included positions as congressional liaison for a large insurance company and sales with a small advertising firm team representing upscale magazines.
Education includes B.A.,Newton College of the Sacred Heart, with a major in English and minors in music, philosophy and religion; M.A., San Francisco State University; Education Policy work at U.C. Berkeley. Some certifications include Coaching Excellence in Organizations (3-year advanced intensive); Human Systems and Embodied Leadership (2 year practicum); Team Emotional Intelligence; (TESI), Demartini Method facilitator (11 years); Cultural Transformation Tools (CTT). Kathy has studied with Humberto Maturana, Julio Ollala, Dr. John Demartini, Bob Dunham, Stuart Heller, Lou Tice, Bill Cook, and other experts in the fields of communication, coaching, human interaction, and organization.
Kathy and her husband Glen have been married for over 35 years and live in Marin County, California. They have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
