David Liss

David Liss is an accomplished educational leader with over 35 years of experience in higher education and K-12 systems, specializing in strategic planning, instructional technology, and systems-level transformation. He currently serves as Chief Strategy & Information Officer for Nixa Public Schools in Missouri, where he leads district-wide initiatives in strategic planning, digital infrastructure, and innovation.

His professional background includes leadership positions at Drury University and Missouri State University, and he has served as an adjunct faculty member developing and delivering technology courses to traditional and non-traditional learners. David earned his B.S. in Business and Finance from Missouri State University with an emphasis in Real Estate and has been nationally certified through CoSN (Consortium for School Networking) as a CETL (Certified Education Technology Leader). He is also a certified personal and executive coach, bringing a strengths-based, reflective lens to both individual and organizational growth.

With nearly two decades of direct experience facilitating strategic planning in educational settings, David brings a scholar-practitioner’s perspective to collaborative goal-setting, systems design, and data-informed decision-making.

He has contributed to long-range technology and instructional planning through service on statewide committees and as past Chair of the Missouri Educational Technology Leaders board. A 2015 “Men of the Year” honoree by Springfield Business Journal, David remains active in civic leadership through his work with the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce and his local church. As a United States Marine Corps veteran, he brings discipline, systems thinking, and a commitment to service into every engagement.

David is married to his best friend, Kim and together they enjoy spending time with their 3 children and their families, including 6 grandchildren.
